After their victory at the Bendigo Eisteddfod, Northern Brass channelled their momentum into their preparations for the Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod in Traralgon. With weeks of dedicated practice led by Martyn Scrimshaw under their belts, they welcomed Preston Band’s music director, Andrew Snell, to lead them in this competition.
Their performance was a showcase of talent and artistry, featuring a diverse setlist that included "Shine as the Light" by Peter Graham, Jimmy Webb's "MacArthur Park," arranged by Alan Catherall, and "For the Love of a Princess" from the film Braveheart. The band’s hard work paid off, as they secured first place in C grade.
A huge thank you to Andrew Snell for his enthusiasm and guidance during the preparation of the band! Also, a shout out to all the other bands that participated—what a fantastic day for brass banding! The camaraderie and talent on display made it a truly enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
